We’re going to the United Nations SB62 Summit

This coming Monday at the UNFCCC Climate Summit in Bonn, Germany, leading scientists, NGOs, and advocates will officially launch the Methane Emergency Brake campaign. Organised by the Leave It in the Ground Initiative (LINGO), Methane Action and the Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development (IGSD), the press conference will spotlight methane’s outsized role in global warming and the urgent need to stop it. Visit our launch event page.

Why Methane Matters
Methane is over 80× more potent than CO₂ in the near term, and since the Paris Agreement, new methane emissions will have driven more warming than new carbon dioxide. Cutting methane now isn’t just smart; it will be the fastest way to cool the planet. Scientific studies show that aggressive methane cuts could shave up to 0.5 °C off projected warming in the coming decades, buying critical time before climate tipping points.
